Calorific Value (CV) of a fuel is the thermal energy released per unit quantity of the fuel when the fuel is burned completely and the products of combustion are cooled back to the initial temperature of the combustible mixture.
The amount of heat released in one kg of fuel in one hour is called as calorific value. It is denoted by CV. It's unit is kJ / hr. Generally, gaseous fuel has two calorific values such as higher and lower calorific values.
