Main types of Nozzles are
i) Single hole nozzle,
ii) Multi hole nozzle,
iii) Pintle Type.
I) SINGLE HOLE NOZZLE :
This nozzle has only one hole at the tip. The fuel is sprayed through this hole to the combustion chamber. The injection in this type is in one direction. So, mixing of fuel in air will not be done well by this type.
II) MULTI HOLE NOZZLE :
In this type, 2 to 4 holes are made at the tip of the nozzle. The holes are closed or opened by means of conical end of control valves. So the, fuel is sprayed in multi direction inside combustion chamber.
Therefore, the mixing of fuel in the air inside the cylinder is done well. The holes are very small and hence may be blocked by carbon particles.
III) PINTLE TYPE :
In this type, the end of the valve is extended to form a pin or pintle. The pin is in cylindrical or conical form. The fuel is sprayed through the hole between pintle and hole. The conical form spindle gives hollow cone shaped spray. So, the fuel is sprayed in all directions. Therefore , the mixing of the fuel with air is done well inside the combustion chamber.
