Steady flow compressors are of two types ;
* Axial Compressor
AXIAL - FLOW COMPRESSOR :
In the axial flow compressor, the blades are arranged in much the same way as in a reaction turbine and the flow of air is along the axis of the compressor. The velocity of the air is changed during its passage through the sets of blades, and pressure lift occurs both in the moving blade passages and in the fixed blades represent a stage and a typical pressure ratio stage is about 1.2. Multi-stage arrangements achieve higher delivery pressures with high efficiency.
